BEFORE YOU BEGIN

Choose the questions relevant to your concern and bring them to your consultation.

Which area is the consultation about?

ASPS uses "brow lift" and "forehead lift" for surgery that can raise sagging brows. This should not be assumed to mean a sub-brow skin excision. ASPS · Brow lift

Area to discussQuestion to bring
Forehead and browAre you proposing to change brow position, forehead tissues, or both?
Upper eyelidIs the concern upper-eyelid skin, eyelid opening, brow position, or a combination?
Lower lid and cheekWhich part of the concern is within the proposed operation, and which is outside it?

What does a combined plan need to explain?

If more than one procedure is suggested, ask why each is included. Request a separate explanation of its intended change, limits, risks, cost and follow-up. The fact that two concerns are near each other is not enough to show that two procedures are necessary.

Discuss each proposed procedure separately before agreeing to a combined plan.

Discuss the proposed procedure and its alternatives.Questions for choosing a clinic

How should recovery be discussed?

Ask about your actual proposed procedure rather than borrowing an eyelid-surgery timetable for every lifting operation. Check which visits are needed before travel, how wounds will be reviewed and who will respond if a concern develops.

What should you bring to the consultation?

Bring a clear description of what bothers you, when it began, and what you hope will change. If you have had previous surgery, request the operative report and share it through the clinic's secure channel. Tell the clinician about medicines, allergies, eye symptoms and other treatments.

If you are traveling, confirm who will explain consent and aftercare in a language you understand, where follow-up will happen, and what happens if you need care after returning home. NHS · Cosmetic surgery abroad

Questions & answers

Are all procedures called a brow lift the same?

No. Ask for the exact name, incision location and tissues being treated. Translations and advertising terms can differ.

Does my age determine which lift I need?

Age alone is not a treatment plan. Discuss the concern, examination findings, alternatives and risks with a clinician.
